ECODEV sees great importance in developing alternative,

sources of energy. Emphasis is on offering training programs

to the community regarding the development and use of renewable

energy.

We collaborate with other organizations in order to introduce

solar, wind, bio-fuels and other renewable energy production systems

to our society.

We are currently collaborating with the Canadian environmental

network, through Onesky to

introduce renewables

in NIGERIA.

This has led to the formation of a Coalition of Renewable Energy

Network.(CREN), and we are in the steering committee.

In 2004, We were asked by the German government to

norminate on of us for a technical training on wind energy in Germany.

The training was completed in August 2005through the suppervision of INWENT (www.inwent.org)

We have been awarded membership of several renewable energy networks, including African wind energy associatio, International network for sustainable energy etc.

We were recently barked the INFORSE renewable energy certificate.

Projects regarding this issue include:

1. Introduce solar, wind, Bio-fuels and other renewable energy sources, to the forest communities we are working with.

2. Performing training sessions regarding installation of renewable energy systems in the Communities we are working in.

3. Actively Participate in the global campaign for sustainable energy use through our environmental allies,International Network for sustainable Energy,(www.inforse.org) Earth Day Network(www.earthday.net), and through our quarterly programme ECO TALKS.

4. Propergate the restoration of Eco Villages in our society.

5. we are equally poised to engage in advocacy, nationally and internationally, for the proliferation of renewables globally.

Communities in this part of the world still depends on fuel wood extraction and charcoal for thier energy needs. Even those within National grids,in both urban and rural areas, cover barely 10-15% of their energy needs, from grid electricity. The rest energy requirement from fuel wood, charcoal, kerosene and similar sources.

Our goal is to introduce "Green" energy, as to salvage the habitat/biodiversity crisis which is the most consequencial issue of our time.
